These
are our standard terms and conditions of business - please read
them, and notify us if you have any concerns.
The subject
matter and scope of each commission will be agreed in advance.
The results will be produced in a written report, to include
the references of all documents and published works consulted.
The research
will continue until no more progress can be made, or until it
is necessary to discuss the future direction of the project.
If there is to be a constraint on the number of hours involved
- or the total budget, it should be specified in writing before
work begins.
Photocopies
of relevant material will be obtained, unless copying costs are
unusually high. If copies are not required, or if there is a
limit to the amount to be spent on them, this should be notified
before work begins.
The result
of all research is strictly confidential, and will only be released
to a third party with our client's written consent.
Where
research has been commissioned at an hourly rate, time spent
on writing relevant reports and letters, and on related administration
and telephone calls, will be defined as time spent on the research.
The research time will be rounded to the nearest half hour and
invoiced on that basis.
Regular
postal services will be used to deliver reports and photocopies
unless the material is particularly valuable, or unless instructions
to use registered mail or a courier service have been received
in writing. We cannot accept responsibility for items lost in
the post when no insurance is in place.
Photocopying,
postal and telephone expenses will be added to our invoice. Travel
expenses will only be charged where we visit an archive outside
our usual centres of operations.
