My name is Tim Hughes, and I am a professional, independent historical researcher. I live in Twickenham with my wife Sabine, and our three young children - Lisa, Stanley and Anabel. This page gives some background information about myself, my qualifications and experience. I am a member of the AGRA (Association of Genealogists and Researchers in Archives). The association will only accept applications for membership after scrutinising examples of research reports, consulting previous clients, and verifying the level of professional experience.

Between school and university I was employed at the Public Record Office (now renamed as the National Archives), and was fascinated by the variety, and quantity, of historical information stored there. During my years working in merchant banking, I pursued my interest when possible, and finally decided to concentrate on research full time.In 1997, I assembled a team of experienced researchers and consultants to form: 'Tim Hughes & Associates' Over the last few years we have steadily grown in terms of turnover and personnel and, in 2002, the organisation was accepted for membership by the Guild of Master Craftsmen.
